Hello everyone,

The experience at Kellie Jerman’s School Of Performing Arts is truly incomparable to any of our surrounding studios or dance schools. We offer a Private, Holistic, Boutique style approach to your dance experience. Classes are structured in a way that provides each dancer with ample amounts of individual attention. Our dance school is fully stocked with high end pilates and barre conditioning equipment that your dancer has access to train with. This is not an add on class! EVERY dancer gets a chance to experience the methods I created in my Dancers Alignment Conditioning program. It is woven into every class at our dance school. All classes are taught by a professional instructor, that is versed in a plethora of dance genres. Each class is methodically mapped out to make every second matter. Companies are separated out by age and level, and we lean closure to the level of the dancer physically and mentally as well as having a guardian that is mentally prepared to support the commitments of your dancer when we are considering company placements. Basically what we’re saying about our dance school is that you get what you pay for when you join, which is the highest level of instructional dance training around! Voted Best In State according to us. We turn students away every year so please keep in mind once you register that this is a year commitment from June-May. Even if you drop out, tuition and all fees will be required for the entire season that you register for. Here are some other things to keep in mind.

Our dancers do compete at our dance school and two of our teams will attend Convention. WE DO NOT OFFER RECREATIONAL DANCE. Competition season runs March – May every year. We do expect our dancers and Guardians to fully comply to our attendance policies. Dance absences for the most part should be reserved for when your dancer becomes ill. Having extensive absences or planning vacations that conflict with class times, especially during Jan-May (with the exception of spring break) can lead to removal from our dance school. Our performance quality, commitment to being on a company, and reputation is of utmost importance and we are looking for families that know that their lack of presence in the dance school effects the team as a whole.

Now let’s talk costumes and dress code. When I’m choosing costumes, every dancers body type is taken into consideration in a company setting. We want dancers to feel comfortable as well as confident on stage, and not tugging at their costumes because they feel exposed. The way we look on stage and in class needs to represent poise and sophistication. When dancers arrive barely clothed, it leaves our teachers feeling uncomfortable of where to place our hands and gaze when spotting and correcting body alignment. I fully understand everyone has completely different view points on costuming, what’s revealing vs what’s not. We do everything within reason to address those concerns. I do allow modifications to costumes to provide more coverage as long as it doesn’t alter the overall look of the costume. If you have any questions on this, please feel free to reach out because we want everyone to feel comfortable on that stage.

Regarding solos, duets and trios, it’s time for Mrs. Kellie to take a step back. Monday – Fridays are absolutely insane for me, from Filming our online platform, class prep work, choreography and handling all the “to do’s” on the back end. I’ve realized this is an area that I can pass on to others. I’ll be developing a list of trusted choreographers to help your dancer. If you have someone you would like to refer to us, please send them my way. We love supporting local Choreographers. You still have to follow the time line for preparedness. Summer is for learning and your dance must be memorized during September – November. Your routine must be polished and cleaned by February so you are ready to take the stage. If you’re competing earlier, PLEASE let your choreographer know! Conventions are beginning to only allow us to enter 20 participants, so unfortunately we might have to have an audition to be able to enter. I will also be doing a quality check mid November to pass off solos and offer suggestions. I will not be altering or changing any choreography without the original choreographers consent because it is unethical.

What’s different from previous seasons for our upcoming 2025-2026 Season? The curriculum and hours our Dance School offers are set up for students that are leaning towards surpassing their Jr High and High School dance curriculum and are wanting a career in teaching dance, collegiate dancing and professional dancing / performing opportunities. Each of the classes hours are based on what technical skills they need to develop to move up to different companies. You’ll notice that our emphases is catered towards more of your classes being foundational vs choreography. If a proper technical base isn’t laid, no matter how many times I run choreography, the dancer will never truly excel. In fact, if my emphases was choreography, dancers typically develop improper body mechanics and muscle memory that is so hard to correct. If you’re returning, you will be placed on the team that best suits your dancer for optimal growth, in regards to both their mental and technical abilities. Placements at our dance school are earned and not given.

A note on Conventions and Competitions. Until I see a BIG change in how these are set up and how awards are given out, we will only attend a minimum of 3 per season. You’re more than welcome to enter as many as you want independently as long as it doesn’t interfere with required class times and our scheduled performances. I do see SOME value in attending these to keep our dancers “audition ready”, but I don’t see immense value in packing yours or my schedule full of these events and drain all of our bank accounts. Attendance to these are close to HALF of your fees for the season, so we want to work smarter, not harder or financially poorer for that matter. Some of the most famous dancers in the world NEVER COMPETED IN COMPS OR WON AT CONVENTION!

We are a semester based dance school. I am a firm believer in family-time and I’m not a believer in overtraining my students to achieve a professional outcome. It is NOT necessary. Here are Holidays and Breaks we will be taking this season:

  • Winter Break is a BIG ONE and WE LOVE IT! Go have a fun Holiday Break with your loved ones. No Dance November 26th – Jan 1st. (We will be scheduling a Jumpstart Camp for soloist and Competitive Teams January  10th to kick off Winter Semester and review all of those routines after our long winter break)
  • We will also be taking off for Spring Break. As soon as I know the dates, they’ll be announced.
  • Labor Day, Sept 1st
  • WE DO NOT TAKE OFF FOR MEMORIAL DAY / PRESIDENTS DAY Its required for you to be in attendance on those days.

  • Please be very mindful of your vacation times during the months of January – May. This is a crucial time to be finessing our routines. Students with multiple absences during this time frame may need additional rehearsals, or be subject to spot changes, or removal from dance. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY to ensure a fair and competitive season for everyone involved. Please refer to our Policies and Procedures regarding absences.

We will have Viewing Day at the end of every month so you can view and record your dancers progress (Please arrive the last 10 minutes of class).

I do have some forms that are required at the time of registration. Liability Waiver and Policies & Procedures (Now combined into one single form). Even if you’re a returning student, you need to resign this new form at the time of registration.

What does your dancer need to be wearing to class? Proper dance attire is required because I need to see your dancers lines and body posture so I can correct alignment. My mindset is if you look the part, you act the part.

  • Ballet:  Convertible tights, ballet leotards, ballet slippers, & hair in bun (any color your dancer likes)
  • Acrobatics:  Bare feet and form fitting dance wear with hair pulled out of the face.
  • Contemporary:  Bare feet/or Dance Socks and form fitting dance wear with hair pulled out of the face.
  • Jazz/Ballroom Jazz shoes and form fitting dance wear with hair pulled out of the face (Shoes to be determined)
  • Tap:  Tap Shoes, form fitting dance wear.

You can view the outline and due dates for the cost for Pictures, Registration and Costume Fee on my website at https://kelliejerman.com. Go and peruse the About Kellie Jerman page so you can see everything I’ve worked so hard to accomplish in my lifelong love of dance and movement.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. We are available Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. If I don’t answer, I’m probably teaching but I’ll return your call as soon as I’m done. Friday-Sunday are our Dance Detox Days. We will get back to you on Monday if you text during our off hours. Thanks for respecting our off time and hours, they’re reserved for family time.

Thank you for sharing your dancer and time with us. We’re so excited to continue all the adventures!
